Aston - Phase 1 (Eclosion) (8BITD25)

Perth born musician and electronic producer Aston was never officially released on 8-Bit Recordings - until now. Aston combined black metal and extreme noise with speedcore, gabber and industrial hardcore tracks which usually ranged from 6 to 48 minutes in length. Yes you heard right. 48 minutes speedcore and gabber tracks. In the few years he produced this music he only played live once. A show which saw him play a set at a skateboard park in Leederville Perth where he pierced himself with needles while screeching into a distorted contact mike.

While everyone else was making short speedcore and extratone tracks, trying to fit in as much sonic destruction in a short time like a subliminal message on politics and outrage disguised as drug damaged short attention spans. Aston preferred to record screaming archaic vocals of hatred and anger, orgasmic wails, barely audible phone sex breathing, occasional lyrics which sometimes made it through a whole verse but usually descended into mentally anguished shrieking and semi legible murmuring.

And this was just the vocals.

"Musically" erratic distorted kickdrum patterns that barely finished or stayed in the tempo, accompanied by off-time snares and randomly placed hi hats, machine noises, horror and porn samples spliced together, black metal guitars, gothic synth compositions, dark ambient droning and film scorish soundscapes and... Jesus Christ I think that's the end of the track.

wait.

it's gone quiet.

.....

EEUURRGRGRGRGRGRGGGRRRHHGHGGHHGHGAAAAAGGHGHRRGGHGHGH!!!!

hahahahahaha! you thought it was finished! :D

How can it be finished it's only been going for 9 and half minutes?

No no no. that's something else he does! lulls you into relaxing like aaaaaaaahh. it's gone all quiet and sort of synth and playful now... then..

MMUUEEEEEEEEEUGHRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEUGHHHHHHHHH!!!

All of the audio abortion described cannot be truly appreciated in under a few minutes. Aston prefers a more refined approach to the art of hardcore production. Where most speedcore producers want to jab you quickly in the jaw with their tracks. Aston's music is more like a quiet evening with My Dying Bride, Richard Ramirez, Diamanda Galas, Memetic, Leathernecks, Deutsch Nepal and Mayhem sharing a bottle of red. Opening it and then smashing it for several minutes before getting naked and pushing slivers of broken glass into each other's nipples.

This the never before released 4 CD "Phase" collection. Sees Aston's electronic endurances brought to you the hapless by standing audience for the first time. Most of the longest tracks are not featured, due to bandcamp's space regulations. Which is only fair. If we put up all 10 years of his work there would be no other artists on here. Aston is the only producer who ever submitted tracks to us in zip files. Due to his tracks never being able to fit on a single CDR in the early 2000s.
